Macrina Bakery founder, Leslie Mackie, got a tip from a friend in 2011 about an old barn on a 6-acre parcel of land located on an island just a short ferry ride from Seattle. The land was covered with thick woods and hazel nut orchards. The barn had been neglected but, its bones remained solid so we embarked on a collaborative process to rehabilitate the original structure and expand its footprint, while staying true to its roots. The result is a home specially designed for Mackie, her daughter and two dogs - embracing her love of cooking, entertaining and family.

"I tried to do this as reasonably as possible. They presented ideas I never would have thought of; they have so many things in their heads. I felt lucky to work with people who asked me the right questions so I could answer them.” - Client
