Interior Remodel
with Deck & Patio Addition
Edmonds: WA
Status: Under Construction

The original kitchen was enclosed and segmented, with low ceilings, limited daylight, and perimeter cabinetry that made the space feel tight and dated. Small window openings and a single exterior door restricted both circulation and connection to the outdoors. See before and after slider below.
The remodel opens the plan and introduces a vaulted ceiling with a large skylight, bringing in natural light and a sense of volume. Expansive sliding doors strengthen the indoor–outdoor connection, while a central island establishes a clear focal point for cooking and gathering. Consolidated cabinetry and a more restrained material palette simplify the space, transforming it into a light-filled, cohesive environment.
Beyond the interior, a new deck and patio extend the living space outward, creating a seamless transition from kitchen to landscape. Integrated steps connect these levels, improving circulation and shaping a series of usable outdoor zones for dining, gathering, and everyday use.
Before & After
A refresh of a 1975 home’s kitchen and dining areas: the layout was reworked, two large sliding doors were added, the ceiling was vaulted, and a skylight was introduced to emphasize the new island.
